In this episode, your hosts, Mat X and JD, introduce the MacDevOps YVR podcast and explain that this year’s conference is taking place in Montreal as MacDevOps YUL. We talk about why the event is moving from Vancouver, and we welcome Martin, long time MDO attendee, first time conference planner, who helps explain the local context and the venue.
We discuss the conference location at Concordia University in downtown Montreal, including the cinema-style space in the LB building and its accessibility by metro, cycling, and walking. We also note the timing of the event around the start of summer in Montreal and nearby local festivals. We might even mention that we like summer. Especially in Montréal. It’s really nice. Have you tried the bagels?
We outline the conference schedule and pre-conference activities, including a Fleet GitOps workshop, a welcome social, and the opening reception. We then walk through the two main conference days: day one focuses on automation, MDM, GitOps, and AI, while day two is dedicated to security, AI, identity, weird new acronyms, and related topics.
We take a moment to praise the beautiful hand-crafted bespoke 2026 conference schedule, and also mention the large number of speakers, the capture-the-flag activity returning this year, and the emphasis on making it accessible for participants of different skill levels. Along the way, we thank the people helping organize the event behind the scenes, especially Martin, JD and Nick. We note the community atmosphere around hallway conversations and shared discussions, and wonder why single track?, why YUL?, and why DevOps?
Finally, we mention the amazing sponsors, June 15 ticket deadline, streaming options, and merch. It’s really about the merch. We close the podcast by thanking the guests, co-hosts, and editors involved in the episode, especially the editors. Yes, they always get the last word. See you all very soon. In Montreal. Don’t forget. We moved the conference. Bye for now.
